Band Goes the Extra Mile to Save the Party!
There's one story in particular that my fraternity brothers (from Sigma Nu at NC State) still talk about when we're together and have a beverage or two. We had booked the Breakfast Club for a party at the house and things were going along ok, but the house wasn't filling up like normal and the band had started playing. At about 11 p.m., the fire alarm went off, which was not good, since fire alarms (and the authority figures they bring) and fraternity parties generally don't mix very well. The whole house (including the band) cleared out for about thirty minutes while the fire department came and did its thing. We were convinced that that was the end of the party, despite the adult beverages that people carried outside with them. As it turned out, however, the fire alarm ended up being the greatest party-creator we've ever seen. Everyone from around Fraternity Court saw all of these people milling about outside of the house and wanted to come see what was happening.
By the time we were allowed to go back inside the house, the crowd had reached epic proportions and we couldn't fit everyone in. The Breakfast Club guys (thanks to their good nature and some hefty pizza and, er, "soft drink" bribes) ended up playing a fantastic show and kept on playing until, let's just say, a bit later than fraternity parties normally shut down and the house was slammed until the end. We all agree that it was the best party at the house during our time at State.
And of course, all of that was as a result of East Coast Entertainment.
